1968: The Year that Changed Everything

A Town Meeting

Introduction: Why is this year important? According to Jonathon Darman, a journalist for Newsweek, "all of us, young and old, are stuck in the 1960s, hostages to a decade we define ourselves as for or against." (Darman) The issues which we confronted as a nation that year were issues that matter most:
  • "How should America show its power to the world?
  • "What rights were owed to African Americans, to women, to other minority groups?
  • What is America and what does it want to be?" (Darman)
